Plant Engineering Head - Chennai

Role Overview

• The Plant Engineering Head will lead Plant Maintenance, Utilities, and Engineering Projects, ensuring high asset reliability, OEE improvement, safety, compliance, and cost optimization. The role is responsible for delivering engineering KPIs, executing capex projects, and upgrading plant infrastructure in line with GMP, Quality Systems, and EHS standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead Plant Engineering covering Maintenance, Utilities & Projects.
• Drive OEE improvement, asset reliability, and plant performance.
• Plan and execute capex projects (brownfield, new lines/products, automation, civil & energy-saving projects) from concept to capitalization.
• Prepare and manage engineering budgets (electricity, steam, M&R) with Y-O-Y savings.
• Governance & review of Preventive Maintenance, Spare Management & Plant Shut down planning/execution.
• Ensure 100% compliance with EHS, environmental, legal, and statutory requirements.
• Deploy Operational Excellence practices (TPM, LSS, DMAIC, RCA, Kaizen).
• Coordinate with Indian & global OEMs for projects, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Lead energy audits, sustainability initiatives, and CO reduction programs.
• Develop and lead the engineering team through structured reviews and training.
• Represent Engineering during audits, inspections, and government interactions.

Qualifications:

• BE / B.Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics) from Tier 1 or Tier 2 institutes.
• 1216 years of experience in Plant Engineering covering Maintenance, Utilities & Projects. (Experience limited to only one area will not be considered).
• FMCG manufacturing exposure preferred.

Technical Skills:

• Process Equipment (Cooker, Depositor, Extruder, Forming Machine, Mixers) High Speed packaging machines.
• In depth knowledge of P&I, Pumps, Gear, Pneumatics, Motors, Drives.
• O&M of plant utilities (AHU, Chillers, Compressors, Boiler, DGs, ETP)
• Budget & costing
• Project management (Planning & execution)
• Troubleshooting using effective tools

• Systems:

  Inventory management, energy conservation, TPM, KAIZEN, DMAIC
• Proficient in SAP, MS Excel, Power Point
• Statutory compliances related to plant operations.
