Job Description

A Payroll Executive is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with statutory requirements (such as PF, ESI, Gratuity, and Professional Tax), and maintaining precise records using Excel and MIS tools, with a strong understanding of minimum wages and timekeeping practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll

    : Accurately calculate and process employee salaries, including bonuses and deductions, and ensure timely salary disbursement.
  • Statutory compliance

    : Handle all statutory obligations including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Labour Welfare Fund, Gratuity, and Professional Tax (PT), ensuring timely payment and accurate documentation.
  • Timekeeping management

    : Maintain and verify attendance records, leave balances, and overtime details with a sharp eye for detail.
  • MIS reporting

    : Generate and analyze payroll reports, maintain payroll data, and assist with regular audits; provide payroll statistics using Excel and payroll management tools.
  • Record keeping

    : Accurately update and archive payroll and employee records for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Minimum wage compliance

    : Ensure all employee payments comply with the latest Minimum Wages Act and guidelines for various skill types and locations.
  • Employee support

    : Address queries related to salary, statutory deductions, and other payroll concerns in a timely and confidential manner.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Excel

    : Strong skills in Excel for accurate data handling, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Time management

    : Ability to meet payroll deadlines and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of statutory laws

    : In-depth understanding of PF, ESI, Gratuity, PT, and regulations related to employee compensation and benefits.
  • Attention to detail

    : Precision in calculations and record-keeping to avoid discrepancies and errors.
  • Understanding of minimum wages

    : Awareness of current minimum wage laws relevant to various locations and skills.
  • MIS report generation

    : Experience in creating, analyzing, and presenting payroll-related MIS reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Proven experience in payroll operations or similar administrative roles.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and HR management systems is an advantage.
