  • Conduct full-scope eye examinations—objective & subjective refraction, binocular vision testing, and ocular health assessment—using auto-refractors, slit-lamps, and fundus cameras.
  • Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and low-vision aids, ensuring accurate measurements and patient education on lens care.
  • Identify, document, and co-manage ocular pathology; initiate timely referrals to ophthalmology or other specialties when indicated.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, keeping calibration logs and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
  • Educate patients on preventive eye care, ergonomics, and digital eye-strain management; conduct community outreach screenings when required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to update electronic medical records (EMR), participate in clinical audits, and drive continuous quality improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • B.Optom or M.Optom / B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Optometry from a recognized institute; valid state registration.
  • 1–4 years clinical optometry experience in hospital, clinic, or retail setting.
  • Proficiency in refraction, contact-lens fitting, and slit-lamp biomicroscopy.
  • Working knowledge of ocular pathology, pharmacology, and vision therapy principles.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and basic MS Office tools.
  • Excellent patient communication and counseling skills in English and local language.

Preferred

  • Experience with optical retail sales targets and inventory coordination.
  • Exposure to pediatric optometry or low-vision rehabilitation.
  • Certification in specialty lenses (ortho-k, RGP, scleral) or myopia control.
  • Knowledge of tele-optometry platforms and remote screening protocols.
  • Basic understanding of marketing eye-care services on social media.
  • Ability to train junior staff or interns on clinical best practices.
