Job Summary

An OPD Staff Nurse performs direct patient care in an outpatient setting, including patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and health education for patients and families. Key responsibilities also involve maintaining clinical records, ensuring adherence to infection control policies, coordinating with the healthcare team, and assisting physicians with examinations and procedures. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care & Assessment: Conduct patient assessments to determine their needs, and deliver direct nursing care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing wound care.
  • Health Education: Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, management, and health maintenance practices.
  • Assisting Physicians: Prepare equipment and assist doctors during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting treatments, procedures, and incidents.
  • Clinic Operations: Ensure the smooth functioning of the OPD by preparing equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Coordination: Act as a liaison between patients, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient flow and care.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies in the OPD, providing first aid, initiating emergency protocols, and ensuring patient stabilization and appropriate referral.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.
