National Credit Head

Key Responsibilities:

Credit Policy & Underwriting Strategy:

• Design, implement, and continuously refine credit policies, scorecards, and risk models for various education finance products.
• Establish and monitor credit underwriting standards across all channels (online, partner-led, direct).

Portfolio Risk Management:

• Monitor and manage the quality of the loan portfolio at a national level.
• Identify emerging risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure adherence to portfolio performance benchmarks.

Leadership & Team Management:

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of regional credit managers and underwriters.
• Create a performance-driven and compliant culture across credit functions.

Stakeholder Management:

• Work closely with senior leadership, product, technology, sales, and legal teams to ensure a seamless credit process and risk alignment.
• Liaise with lending partners and regulatory stakeholders for audits and compliance-related matters.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

• Leverage analytics and machine learning models to drive smart credit decisions and reduce default rates.
• Regularly review MIS, delinquency reports, and portfolio analytics to make informed decisions.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:

• Ensure all credit operations comply with RBI guidelines and internal risk frameworks.
• Drive operational excellence and reduce TAT in credit approvals.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 10 -15 years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in retail lending / fintech / NBFCs / education financing./Supply Chain Finance
• Proven experience in building and leading national-level credit teams.
• Strong understanding of underwriting models, credit bureau analysis, and regulatory frameworks.
• Exposure to lending technology platforms and data-driven underwriting.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
• CA / MBA (Finance) / CFA or equivalent preferred.
