Key responsibilities:


  • Build MATLAB/Simulink models for 6-DOF aircraft dynamics, stability, and control.
  • Predict UAV performance metrics including range, endurance, climb rate, and payload versus energy trade-offs.
  • Simulate extreme flight conditions and identify system-level failure points.
  • Model electric propulsion systems including battery discharge, thermal limits, and motor-propeller interactions.
  • Develop power budgets and simulate efficiency across flight profiles.
  • Analyse energy management strategies to optimise endurance and payload performance.
  • Model sensor and actuator behaviour in closed-loop dynamics.
  • Support design and verification of control laws, autopilot logic, and stability augmentation.
  • Simulate failure cases such as sensor dropouts, actuator faults, and degraded avionics performance.
  • Assess UAV behaviour under varying altitude, temperature, and density conditions.
  • Model cooling and environmental control system performance.
  • Correlate simulations with ground and flight test data.
  • Prepare simulation reports for gated reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
  • Maintain documentation and data discipline, ensuring all assumptions and results are traceable.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Aerospace Engineering, Flight Dynamics, or Systems Engineering.
  • 5–10 years

     of experience in flight dynamics, performance, or systems simulation.
  • Proficiency in 

    MATLAB/Simulink

     (mandatory).
  • Experience modelling 

    aero, propulsion, avionics, and power systems

     at aircraft level.
  • Strong grounding in 

    stability & control, energy systems, and failure case analysis

    .
  • Exposure to 

    Monte Carlo or probabilistic methods

     for extreme-case simulations.
  • Familiarity with 

    HIL/SIL simulation frameworks

     a plus.


Preferred Attributes:


  • Deep fundamentals in flight physics and system interactions.
  • Strong documentation discipline — every model, assumption, and result treated as a controlled artefact.
  • Ability to integrate across disciplines: aero, propulsion, avionics, energy.
  • Hands-on approach: from MATLAB scripts to test correlation.
  • Comfortable working in a 

    startup-style aerospace R&D environment
