Role Overview

MES Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, support, and optimize Aspen MES solutions across refinery operations.
  • Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure integration between Aspen applications, third-party systems, and plant automation platforms.
  • Drive performance improvements, troubleshoot application issues, and coordinate with vendors where necessary.
  • Support digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives within refinery operations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, workflows, and training material for users and support teams.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in the following AspenTech and related tools:

  • Planning & Scheduling:

    Aspen PIMS, Aspen Petroleum Scheduler, Aspen APS
  • Simulation & Optimization:

    Aspen HYSYS, Aspen DMC 3, Aspen Pro MV, Aspen Advisor, Aspen AURA
  • Information & Data Management:

    Aspen IP21(Refinery), Aspen Process Explorer, Aspen Mobile Data, Matrikon OPC, Aspen CIM IO
  • Specialized Applications:

    KBC Simsuite, Honeywell SAND Pro, Aspen ATOMS, Aspen Capital-Cost Estimator (ACCE), Meridium, Star LIMS
  • Licensing & Administration:

    Aspen Licensing

Additional Skills

  • Strong understanding of refinery business processes and value chain.
  • Hands-on experience with

    integration of MES with DCS/PLC/SCADA systems

    .
  • Knowledge of

    data quality management and historian platforms

    .
  • Familiarity with

    advanced analytics, reporting, and visualization tools

    .
  • Experience in

    documentation, compliance, and audit support

    for refinery IT/OT systems.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent

    client communication

    and stakeholder management.
  • Strong

    problem-solving

    and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to

    lead discussions with refinery operations teams

    and IT/OT counterparts.
  • Willingness to work in a

    fast-paced refinery environment

  • Team player with mentoring skills for junior engineers.
  • Speaking Gujarati is add on preference

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or related).
  • Minimum 8 years of overall experience, including

    6+ years in Aspen MES applications

    .
  • Previous refinery or process industry exposure preferred.
