Role Overview:

The MEP Design Engineer Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and managing the design and execution of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems for residential and commercial real estate projects. The role requires close collaboration with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure efficient design development, compliance with codes and standards, and timely execution at the site.


Key Responsibilities:


Design Coordination & Review

  • Coordinate with MEP consultants and design teams for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and other building services.
  • Review and validate MEP design drawings, GFC (Good for Construction) drawings, and shop drawings.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with applicable codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Provide value engineering inputs to optimize design for cost, performance, and sustainability.
  • Conduct design feasibility checks in alignment with architectural and structural requirements.


Execution Support

  • Coordinate with project/site teams to ensure MEP execution matches approved design and specifications.
  • Resolve design-related queries and provide technical clarifications to site execution teams.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality and compliance of MEP works.
  • Identify and resolve clashes or conflicts between architectural, structural, and MEP services.


Vendor & Contractor Coordination

  • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and consultants for design submissions, approvals, and revisions.
  • Evaluate MEP material submittals and technical specifications for approval.
  • Assist procurement teams in vendor selection by providing technical inputs.
  • Ensure timely availability of design deliverables to avoid execution delays.


Project Management & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain MEP design schedules in line with overall project timelines.
  • Monitor and track progress of MEP design deliverables and approvals.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to energy efficiency, green building, and sustainability norms wherever applicable.
  • Prepare technical reports, design summaries, and presentations for management review.
  • Ensure MEP systems comply with safety regulations, statutory approvals, and local authority requirements.


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of MEP design principles, codes, and standards.
  • Hands-on experience in coordination of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-fighting, and ELV systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, MS Office, and other design coordination tools.
  • Good understanding of design review, clash detection, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities across projects.


Preferred Background:

  • Strong exposure to mid-scale and large-scale residential/commercial projects.
  • Experience in design coordination for high-rise structures will be an added advantage.
