Job Description

Job Summary

Ensure that machined, sheet-metal, and fabrication parts meet design drawings, GD&T specs, company and customer quality standards. Lead inspection efforts including in‑process, final, and supplier inspections while driving corrective/preventive actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • In-Process & Final Inspection

Conduct dimensional and visual inspections at stages such as laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, and coating using tools like CMM, height gauges, Vernier calipers, micrometers, etc.

  • Drawing & Tolerance Verification

Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T symbols; verify part dimensions and tolerances.

  • Quality Plans, SOPs & Checklists

Develop and maintain Inspection Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, inspection checklists, first‑article inspection plans (FAI), and process flow audits.

  • NCRs and CAPA Management

Create non‑conformance reports, conduct root cause analyses (8D, 5 Whys), and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Work closely with design engineering, production teams, and technicians to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturability.

  • Inspection Equipment Calibration

Manage calibration schedules and ensure measuring devices are within traceability norms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in quality roles related to machining, sheet metal or fabrication parts.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Experience with inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, Go/No‑Go gauges, and ideally CMM systems. I

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and detail‑oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, QMS, industry standards (IS, DIN, ASTM, JIS, BS).
  • Familiarity with quality tools and methods: 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, FMEA, Six Sigma, SPC.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Excel (data trending), and optionally SAP/Oracle for quality tracking.
