Job title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Summary:
Under guidance and supervision , successfully design, develop, simulate and test hardware products for Cubic which will be used for intelligent travel applications in the transportation industry. The Mechanical Design Engineer should be looking to improve through a combination of on-the-job-training and lesson based training.
An element of lone working will be expected as well as supported development from senior engineers within the existing team. The position requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail, diligence, and a positive attitude.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts component modelling/analysis and tolerance analysis for designated products and/or customer applications.

Assess severity of design problems, determine corrective action and resolves technical problems using theoretical and analytical approaches.

Performs root cause analysis techniques and implements solutions.
-
Specifies materials, equipment and supplies.
-
Modifies and documents existing engineering designs.
-
Conducts prototype design, construction and test. Logs, compiles and evaluates engineering data.

Writes manuals, procedures and technical reports.
-
Assists in preparing design specifications, analysis and recommendations.
-
Read, interpret and prepare data for engineering drawings.
-
Assists in reviewing customer and sub-system requirements.

Applies and maintains quality standards.

Keep up to date on the latest Engineering techniques, materials and manufacturing methods.

Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures.
Minimum Job Requirements:
-
B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent supported by extensive relevant design experience.

Minimum of 1 to 3 years of design and or testing of hardware/embedded projects
Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
Essential:

Ability to perform theoretical and analytical problem solving tasks.

Experience using 3D Solid modelling software Solidworks or equivalent with experience of using CAD data management systems.

Experience in technical report writing.

Experience of reviewing customer and sub system requirements.

Good interpersonal skills.

Affective communication both verbal and written.

Ability to prioritise work and complete multiple tasks on time and in budget.

Experience working to and delivering to deadlines.

Ability to use typical office software such as MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint.

Experience in designing electro-mechanical module assemblies.

Experience of designing sheet metal components.

Experience of designing plastic injection moulded parts and/or die castings.

Experience using 2D Autocad.

Experience of performing simulations to mitigate design errors.

Experience of 3D printing.
