Role Summary
The SCM Manager will act as the key link between the
Project, Engineering, Quality, and Procurement teams
to ensure timely availability of critical materials for Solar and Wind projects. The role requires in-depth understanding of
MCR (Main Control Room), Switchyard, and site-specific requirements
, with strong coordination and follow-up skills to manage dynamic project needs. The individual will provide critical inputs for PR/PO creation, support vendor engagement, monitor delivery timelines, and proactively resolve bottlenecks to ensure smooth execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirement Gathering & Planning
- Coordinate with Project, Site, Quality, Engineering, and Technology teams to finalize material requirements once land/site details are confirmed.
- Consolidate and validate component requirements for Solar (modules, inverters, MMS, cabling, etc.) and Wind (WTGs, MCR, Switchyard, BOP packages, etc.).
- Provide detailed inputs to Procurement for PR/PO creation, ensuring alignment with project timelines and technical specifications.
- Procurement Support & Vendor Coordination
- Support Procurement team during RFQ preparation, technical-commercial evaluation, and PO finalization.
- Ensure vendor alignment with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Conduct vendor visits (including manufacturing facilities) to resolve bottlenecks and expedite supplies.
- Logistics & Delivery Monitoring
- Track end-to-end material flow from vendor to site, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Identify risks in the supply chain (delays, shortages, transportation challenges) and take corrective actions.
- Coordinate with logistics partners for safe transportation of heavy/critical equipment (e.g., WTG components, transformers, switchyard equipment).
- Stakeholder & Cross-functional Coordination
- Act as a single point of contact between Project/Site teams and Procurement for material planning and delivery updates.
- Work closely with Quality team for pre-dispatch inspections, clearances, and certifications.
- Engage with site execution teams to resolve on-ground issues related to material receipt, storage, and utilization.
- Governance & Reporting
- Maintain and update MIS on procurement status, delivery schedules, and vendor performance.
- Highlight delays and proactively escalate issues to management for timely resolution.
- Support cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality and timelines.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred); MBA in SCM/Supply Chain desirable.
- Experience: 8–12 years in SCM within Renewable Energy (Solar & Wind) sector.
- Hands-on exposure to MCR, Switchyard, Electrical, and Civil procurement.
- Strong understanding of project execution challenges at renewable energy sites.
- Experience in vendor management, logistics, and debottlenecking supply delays.
- Proficiency in SAP/ERP systems for SCM tracking.
- Excellent coordination, follow-up, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project sites and vendor facilities.
