About the role: We are looking for a high-performing and strategy-driven Business Development Manager / AVP Business Development to spearhead international sales growth and client engagement in the U.S., Europe, and/or APAC markets. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, involving managing client relationships, leading sales initiatives, and collaborating with internal teams (Sales, Research, Content, and Outreach) to drive business outcomes effectively. You will excel in this position if you possess a strong background in selling services and SaaS products, particularly in patent research. We are seeking someone who can not only implement sales strategies but also deeply comprehend client requirements and convert them into tailored solutions that make a significant impact. Key Responsibilities: - Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement international business development strategies to achieve sales targets across key global regions. - Client Engagement: Establish connections with prospects, present customized solutions, and convert leads into long-term clients. - Team Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams such as calling, content, data mining, and marketing to synchronize efforts for optimal outcomes. - Campaign Management: Provide strategic guidance for outbound campaigns, ensure team follow-through, and aid in refining the sales funnel. - Solution Mapping: Translate technical or domain-specific client needs into actionable service proposals and engagement models. - Market Expansion: Identify new markets and growth opportunities, and execute plans for outreach and market penetration. - Performance Monitoring: Monitor business development metrics and contribute to enhancing sales processes continuously. Required Qualifications and Expertise: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering. - Experience: 5-12 years of experience in international business development, preferably in SaaS or knowledge services like patents, business research, legal, or market intelligence. - Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in deal closures and consistently meeting revenue targets. - Global B2B Expertise: Extensive experience in global B2B client interaction, including cold calling, solution selling, and adeptly navigating complex conversations. - Strategic Acumen: Strong strategic thinking abilities with the aptitude to lead multi-functional initiatives. - Leadership Exposure: Experience in managing or mentoring a team of business development executives and collaborating with cross-functional units. - Domain Understanding: Technical or domain-specific knowledge to effectively communicate service benefits to sophisticated clients. Nice to Have: - Previous experience in business development roles within patent research firms. - Familiarity with CRM tools, outbound email campaigns, and lead nurturing workflows. - Experience in participating in or leading RFP responses, client onboarding, or long-cycle enterprise deals. Personal Traits: - Excellent communication and persuasive writing skills. - Energetic and self-motivated with a results-oriented approach. - Confident, proactive, and adept at handling senior-level client discussions. - Strong relationship-building skills and a grasp of consultative selling.
