About The Opportunity

Enterprise IT & Mainframe Infrastructure: a high-availability data center environment supporting mission-critical transactional and batch workloads on IBM mainframes. This on-site role in India focuses on storage administration, tape lifecycle management, capacity planning and DR for 24x7 z/OS platforms.

Primary title (standardized): Mainframe Storage Administrator

Role & Responsibilities

Administer and optimise mainframe storage subsystems (DFSMS, SMS, DFSMShsm) to ensure high availability, I/O performance and data integrity for z/OS workloads.
Manage tape library operations and media lifecycle—labeling, staging, mounting, secure rotations and tape restores—ensuring compliance with retention policies.
Perform capacity planning and storage allocation for DASD and tape; forecast growth, identify bottlenecks and recommend hardware or configuration changes.
Execute and validate backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures; coordinate periodic DR tests and maintain recovery playbooks.
Develop, maintain and automate runbooks and operational scripts (JCL/REXX/shell integration) to streamline routine storage tasks and change activities.
Troubleshoot storage incidents, coordinate with SAN and vendor teams (IBM/EMC/HPE) for root-cause analysis, and produce SLA-focused operational reports.
