Looker developer

We are seeking a talented and passionate Google Cloud Looker Developer to join our growing

data team. You will play a crucial role in empowering data-driven decision-making across the

organization by designing, building, and maintaining insightful and interactive dashboards and

reports using Looker. You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, translate

them into effective data visualizations, and ensure the performance and scalability of our Looker

environment.

Responsibilities

● Develop and Maintain LookML: Create and maintain robust, well-documented

LookML models to support diverse business requirements.

● Design & Build Dashboards: Design, build, and deploy interactive and visually

appealing dashboards and reports in Looker that effectively communicate key

insights.

● Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with business users and analysts to

gather requirements, understand their needs, and translate them into technical

specifications.

● Optimize Performance: Optimize Looker performance, including LookML

models and data models, for scalability, efficiency, and a great user experience.

● Data Visualization Best Practices: Implement data visualization best practices

to ensure clear and effective communication of data insights.

● Define & Track Metrics: Work with stakeholders to define and track key

performance indicators (KPIs) and build visualizations to monitor them.

● Troubleshoot & Resolve: Diagnose and resolve Looker-related issues,

ensuring high availability and reliability of the platform.

● Stay Current: Stay up-to-date with the latest Looker and Google Cloud Platform

(GCP) features, best practices, and advancements.

Qualifications

Must-Haves (Absolutely Required)

● LookML Expertise: Strong proficiency in LookML development, including

explores, views, dimensions, measures, and derived tables. Must be able to write

clean, efficient, and reusable LookML. Having a Looker certification is a plus.

● Advanced SQL: Excellent SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and

analysis. Must be comfortable with complex queries and data transformations.

● Data Warehousing Knowledge: In-depth understanding of data warehousing

concepts (star schemas, snowflake schemas, etc.) and data modeling

techniques.

● Data Visualization Skills: Proven experience creating clear, insightful, and user-

friendly data visualizations. Experience with Looker's visualization options is

essential.

● Requirements Gathering: Ability to translate business requirements into

technical solutions, working effectively with both technical and non-technical

stakeholders.

● Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong

attention to detail.

● Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication

skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

● Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science,

Information Systems, or a related field.
