Linux Administrator

Location: Kolkata/Bangalore

About the Role:

We’re seeking a Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and secure our Linux server environment. You’ll be responsible for system configuration, automation, performance monitoring, and ensuring high availability across our infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have a strong scripting background, networking knowledge, and a focus on reliability and security. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu in an AWS environment.
• Monitor performance, log activity, and optimize system efficiency 
• Apply security hardening, manage patches, and perform vulnerability assessments 
• Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Perl; use Ansible/Chef/Puppet for configuration management. 
• Manage backups and disaster recovery procedure . 
• Administer user accounts, permissions, access controls . 
• Collaborate with DevOps, application, and IT teams on deployment & integration
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, and SOPs 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or relevant field; or equivalent experience 
• 3+ years of Linux systems administration experience 
• Proficient with Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu
• Skilled in Bash, Python, and/or Perl scripting 
• Practical experience with configuration tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef 
• Solid understanding of networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls Familiarity with virtualization/cloud @AWS
• Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.) 
• Knowledge of backup/recovery processes and disaster planning Awareness of security best practices: system hardening, access control, SELinux/AppArmor 

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, LPIC
• Experience with MySQL/MariaDB, SAN storage, and Ceph
• Containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) 
• Cloud automation tools (Terraform) 
• Prior engagement with Active Directory/LDAP/Kerberos integration 
• Advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning
