Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Legal Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and manage the legal function, providing strategic legal advice to the executive team and business units.
  • Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with global standards.

Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws, industry regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on their impact on the business.
  • Oversee ethics and compliance training programs, including anti-bribery, data privacy (e.g., GDPR), and competition law.

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including procurement, distribution, marketing, sponsorship, and partnership agreements.
  • Implement best practices in contract lifecycle management to mitigate risk and ensure value creation.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Manage and coordinate all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters.
  • Liaise with external counsel, ensuring cost-effective and outcome-oriented legal representation.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing clear, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented legal counsel.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all business units.
  • Represent company in external engagements with regulators, industry bodies, and third-party partners.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Law degree from an accredited institution; admission to practice law in relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 14 years of post-qualification experience, including in-house counsel experience
  • Experience in a multinational or matrix organization is a strong advantage.

  • Legal Expertise:

    Strong background in corporate law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strategic Thinking:

    Ability to align legal strategy with business goals and influence decision-making.
  • Leadership:

    Proven experience managing legal teams and mentoring legal professionals.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Ethical Judgement:

    High level of integrity, discretion, and sound legal judgment.
