Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    To oversee and manage the end-to-end techno-commercial operations of the Stores function in a copper manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient inventory control, compliance, and alignment with production needs. The role is critical to maintaining uninterrupted plant operations and optimizing material flow, storage, and scrap management.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Strategic Responsibilities - Develop and implement SOPs for inventory planning, control, and documentation. - Align stores operations with production schedules and procurement plans. - Lead digitization and automation initiatives for inventory and scrap tracking. Operational Responsibilities - Manage receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of engineering items, chemicals, packing materials, and consumables. - Ensure accurate GRN (Goods Receipt Note) processing and timely delivery to user departments. - Maintain optimal stock levels and reorder points using ERP systems (SAP preferred). - Oversee scrap segregation, valuation, and disposal in compliance with internal policies and audit requirements. - Coordinate with procurement, finance, and production teams for seamless operations. - Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance within the stores area. Team Leadership - Supervise a team of storekeepers, custodians, and contract workers. - Conduct training and mentoring to build team capabilities. - Drive performance through KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives. Compliance and Documentation - Ensure adherence to statutory and internal audit requirements. - Maintain accurate records for inventory, scrap, and compliance checklists. - Support internal and external audits with complete documentation.

Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Commerce. - MBA or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain/Operations preferred. Experience - Minimum 12–15 years in stores/materials management, preferably in copper or metal manufacturing. - Proven experience in handling large inventories (100+ Cr), scrap management, and ERP systems. - Prior leadership experience managing teams of 30+ personnel.
