Purpose/Objective


    Lead - Mechanical in the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) function is responsible for supporting the operational maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems within the airport. The role ensures that mechanical equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and in compliance with established safety standards. The Associate plays a key role in supporting daily operations, preventive maintenance, and urgent repairs to maintain uninterrupted airport services.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Operational Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including HVAC, elevators, escalators, and other related equipment. Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to airport operations. Achieve target service level agreements for equipment uptime and reliability. Ensure proper maintenance and serviceability of airport assets, particularly HVAC and PHE systems. Monitor and control energy consumption, focusing on cost-effective energy use. Servicing and Repairs: Oversee and execute the servicing of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance. Respond promptly to urgent repair needs, ensuring systems are back to full operation with minimal downtime. Budget & Resource Management: Monitor the mechanical maintenance budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources, procurement of materials, and timely scheduling of work. Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure all mechanical systems comply with local regulations (DGCA, ICAO, NFPA, etc.), including safety inspections, audits, and updates as necessary. Lead the team in safety initiatives and implement corrective actions when necessary. Participate in safety audits and inspections to confirm adherence to safety regulations set by airport authorities and regulatory bodies. Technical Support and Coordination: Provide technical expertise and support to the maintenance team during troubleshooting and repair operations. Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors for the supply of parts and additional technical support when needed. Identify opportunities for operational improvement within the mechanical systems. Propose and lead initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs. Energy Management and Reporting: Prepare Energy Saving Reports with detailed analysis and comparisons to baseline figures. Monitor, track, and report on energy consumption across HVAC and PHE systems. Propose and implement projects to improve energy efficiency without compromising performance. Documentation and Reporting: Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on site-specific conditions. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and replacements conducted on mechanical systems. Generate periodic reports on the operational status of mechanical systems and any issues that may need further attention. Review PM checklists / SOP/Logbooks Vendor Management and Procurement: Prepare notes for approval and associated documentation (e.g., BOQs, specifications, makes) for spare parts or systems improvements. Manage the procurement process for required materials, including vendor evaluation and comparisons. Submit vendor quotes, technical comparisons, and track project timelines and deliverables. Preventive Maintenance Planning: Develop and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all mechanical systems to reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and ensure efficiency. Assist in identifying and recommending improvements to the existing preventive maintenance programs. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide on-the-job training to junior maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge of mechanical systems. Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in mechanical maintenance and share knowledge with the team to improve overall efficiency. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institute, accredited by UGC. Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), HVAC certification, or equivalent. Work Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical systems maintenance and servicing in large-scale facilities, preferably in the aviation or similar industry.
