Patanjali Herbal Research Division works on documentation, analysis, designing and project executions of different themes in the alignment of aims and scope of Patanjali institutions. Around 150 well trained scientists with different expertise in Botany, Taxonomy, Microbiology, Biotechnology, etc. Work together on several academic research projects related to plant- based medicine, yoga and any such related field towards conducting extensive research for scientific and empirical evidence in support of therapeutic effects of selected areas. Several research and review articles are published in journals of national as well as international repute having a global visibility for Yoga and Ayurveda with supportive and authenticated data. This division aims to develop systematized and validated research work that shall be highly useful for scientists, researchers and industry experts engaged in the work related to research, development and promotion of Yoga and Ayurveda.


Job Profile for Lab Technician:

The Lab Technician – GC–MS will be responsible for the operation, calibration, maintenance and data analysis of the Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS/MS) system. The role involves sample preparation, method execution, data interpretation and documentation to support research and development activities related to herbal, botanical and natural product analysis.


Qualification & Experience:

  • B.Sc./M.Sc. in

    Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology

    or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience

    in operating GC–MS/MS systems.
  • Strong practical knowledge of

    sample preparation techniques

    for herbal, plant-based and natural product matrices.
  • Experience in

    method development, validation and troubleshooting

    of GC–MS analyses.
  • Familiarity with

    data acquisition software

    , spectral libraries and result interpretation.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, data handling and reporting tools).
  • Good documentation practices and attention to detail.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Operate, calibrate and maintain

    GC–MS/MS instruments

    as per SOPs.
  • Perform routine and advanced

    qualitative and quantitative analysis

    of plant extracts, phytochemicals, essential oils and related samples.
  • Prepare samples using appropriate extraction and concentration techniques.
  • Conduct method optimization, validation and system suitability checks.
  • Analyze chromatograms, interpret mass spectra and generate accurate reports.
  • Maintain detailed records of sample analysis, instrument usage, calibration and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with

    GLP, laboratory safety standards

    and proper chemical waste disposal.
  • Coordinate with research teams for experiment planning, sample requirements and result documentation.
  • Manage GC–MS-related consumables, columns, gases and coordinate instrument servicing when required.


Work Environment:
  • Laboratory-based role involving the handling of chemicals, solvents and analytical instrumentation.
  • Strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols, SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is mandatory.
