Job Description

Designation of the Person Assistant Chemist Reporting To Chemist Department O&M Location Kochi Job Description  Assist Chemist in collection and testing of raw water, treated water and distribution samples.  Conduct routine water quality tests such as pH, turbidity, residual chlorine, hardness and TDS.  Support Chemist in bacteriological and advanced chemical analysis.  Maintain daily laboratory records, logbooks, and data sheets.  Prepare sample solutions, reagents, and ensure availability of consumables for laboratory work.  Operate and maintain basic laboratory instruments (pH meter, turbidity meter, chlorine test kits, etc.).  Ensure proper cleaning, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory glassware and equipment.  Follow Chemist’s instructions in dosing supervision and field sampling.  Comply with laboratory safety standards in handling and storage of chemicals.  Provide timely updates to Chemist on test results and deviations.  Assist in preparation of reports for submission to authorities.  Support water quality monitoring activities during audits and inspections. Key Competencies:  Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of water laboratory procedures and analytical methods.  Attention to Detail: Accuracy in conducting water quality tests and recording results.  Laboratory Skills: Ability to handle lab instruments (pH meter, turbidity meter, chlorine kits, etc.) and prepare reagents.  Data Recording & Reporting: Maintaining logbooks, registers, and assisting in preparation of reports.  Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe chemical handling, storage, and disposal practices.  Time Management: Timely collection, testing, and submission of water quality results.  Problem-Solving: Identifying deviations in test results and promptly reporting to the Chemist.  Adaptability: Willingness to learn advanced testing methods and adopt new technologies.  Communication Skills: Clear communication of test results and observations to seniors. Educational Qualification: B.Sc in Chemistry / Environmental Science (Fresh graduates or candidates with short experience may also apply). Work Experience: 0–2 Years in water treatment laboratories / quality testing (preferred but not mandatory).
