Job Title: Junior Accountant – Retail

Location: Uppal ,Hyderabad.

Job Summary:

The Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations for a retail business, with a focus on accurate recording of sales, inventory, and customer transactions. The role involves working on finance and ERP systems to ensure that retail transactional data is correctly captured and reflected in the financial books.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in month-end closing activities including journal entries, general ledger posting, and reconciliations for sales, inventory, and receivables.​
• Update and reconcile daily retail sales, collections, discounts, and returns from POS/ERP systems to the accounting records.​
• Support revenue recognition and commission calculations as per defined retail accounting policies and SOPs.​
• Help track inventory movements, stock adjustments, and store variances in coordination with store operations and supply chain teams.​
• Prepare basic schedules, MIS reports, and supporting documentation for internal reviews and audits related to retail operations.​
• Ensure correct accounting treatment for promotions, credit notes, write-offs, and customer refunds in the finance system.​
• Maintain up-to-date financial data in the ERP/accounting environment and highlight data mismatches or integration issues to the senior accountant.​
• Coordinate with merchandising, sales, and customer service teams to resolve transaction-level discrepancies and customer-related accounting issues.​
• Support implementation of process improvements and basic automation initiatives under guidance of the senior accountant/finance manager.​
• Stay familiar with relevant retail accounting practices, GST/tax basics, and internal accounting policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field.​
• 2–4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail, FMCG, or retail financial services environment. Working knowledge of ERP software; Genesys preferred.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles, inventory and sales cycle accounting, and reconciliations.
