Enforce safe practices in EAF electrode handling, ladle movements, vacuum operations, and HM charging. Drive SHE culture to achieve zero accident performance. Implement energy-efficient and environment-friendly practices (dust suppression, slag utilization, emission reduction). 6. Cost & Resource Management Optimize power consumption in EAF and LF through efficient operating practices. Monitor and control consumption of electrodes, refractories, ferro-alloys, fluxes, and utilities. Drive yield improvement projects to minimize metal losses and cost/ton of liquid steel. Implement cost-saving initiatives and lean manufacturing practices. 7. Coordination & Reporting Coordinate with upstream (BF/DRI, RMHS) and downstream (CCM, Rolling Mills) for smooth production flow. Ensure proper ladle logistics and heat scheduling to avoid bottlenecks. Prepare daily/monthly production, yield, cost, and downtime reports. Present performance dashboards and improvement plans to SMS Head and Plant Management. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Production achievement vs. target (MT/month). EAF productivity (taps/day, t/tap, power consumption per ton). LF refining efficiency and heat cycle time. VD utilization (% of heats treated, degassing performance). Hot Metal utilization efficiency. Yield (%) and quality rejection rate. Refractory and electrode consumption norms. Safety performance (LTI, MTI, near misses). Cost/ton of liquid steel vs. budget. Qualifications & Experience Education : B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering. Experience : 15–20 years in Steel Industry with at least 7–8 years in leadership roles in EAF/LF/VD/HM operations. Proven expertise in secondary metallurgy, steel refining, and vacuum treatment. Experience in automation, process optimization, and advanced steelmaking practices. Competencies & Skills Strong technical knowledge of EAF steelmaking, secondary metallurgy, and HM logistics. Sound understanding of refractory, electrodes, ferro-alloys, and slag practices. Leadership and team management capabilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Job Description Assistant General Manager (AGM) – CCM Department : Steel Melting Shop (SMS) Location : Integrated Steel Plant – 0.75 MTPA capacity with EAF Reports to : GM – SMS Role Purpose To lead, manage, and optimize the operations and maintenance of the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) in a 0.75 MTPA Steel Melting Shop equipped with an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), ensuring high productivity, safety, quality of billets/blooms/slabs, cost efficiency, and compliance with operational standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations Management Ensure smooth and uninterrupted CCM operation to meet production targets. Monitor and control casting parameters (superheat, casting speed, tundish temperature, mold level control, secondary cooling, etc.).
