Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Data Migration Engineer
with strong experience in
data warehousing (DWH)
,
ETL development
, and
modern cloud data platforms
. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tools such as
Wherescape RED, Data Manager, DataStage, or Spark
, with hands-on experience in migrating legacy ETL workflows to
Azure Synapse
. You will play a key role in delivering scalable, performant data solutions and supporting enterprise-level reporting tools such as
Cognos
and
Power BI
.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement Enterprise Data Warehouses, ETL pipelines, and real-time/batch data exchange processes.
- Migrate data and reporting structures from on-premise platforms (e.g., Cognos) to Azure Synapse or similar cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with support teams to address ServiceNow tickets and provide prompt issue resolution.
- Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot ETL workflows; provide on-call support for production environments.
- Work with structured and semi-structured data, transforming and converting it into actionable datasets.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and Cognos.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and translate technical solutions into business-friendly language.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of designs, data flows, and technical processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience supporting 2 or more ETL/DWH tools (Wherescape RED, Data Manager, DataStage, Spark, etc.)
- 4+ years of experience designing cloud or on-premise data warehouse and data models
- Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Azure Synapse, SQL Server, or Azure Data Lake
- Experience working with IBM Cognos and Power BI for enterprise reporting
- Familiarity with data governance, security policies, and compliance frameworks
- Ability to support service tickets, monitor pipelines, and provide proactive performance tuning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused and problem-solving mindset
- Must have (or be eligible for) Controlled Goods or Government Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Familiarity with AWS or GCP data services
- Exposure to metadata-driven data models or data governance frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD tools for data pipeline deployment
