IT Architect – Emergency Response System (ERS) IT Platform
Role Purpose :
will be responsible for designing, managing, and governing the NHAI ERS IT Platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and seamless integration across GPS, IMS, VTS, MDM, call center, and reporting systems to support 247 emergency response operations.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Design Design and maintain end-to-end IT architecture for the NHAI ERS platform, including Management System (IMS)GPS & VTS integration Mobile Device Management (MDM)Call center systems (1033)Data analytics, dashboards, and reporting
Ensure system architecture supports real-time operations, high concurrency, and fault tolerance.
Define and enforce technology standards, integration protocols, APIs, and data models.
Ensure secure integration with third-party vendors, state agencies, hospitals, and emergency services.
Operations & Service Management
Oversee day-to-day IT operations of the ERS platform with defined SLAs and uptime commitments.
Ensure timely resolution of inaccuracies (e.g., frog jumping)IMS ticketing issues
Data mapping and rectification MDM and device-related issues
Monitor system performance, incident trends, and service metrics.
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions for recurring issues.
Governance, Security & Compliance Ensure compliance with NHAI guidelines, government IT policies, and cybersecurity standards. Implement data security, access controls, audit logs, and disaster recovery mechanisms. Ensure data accuracy for vehicle, device, hospital, vendor, and incident records.
Enforce SOPs for installation, onboarding, configuration, and change management.
Manage vendors delivering GPS devices, SIMs, software platforms, and field services.
Review vendor SLAs, performance reports, and escalation handling.
Coordinate with regional NHAI offices and field teams for deployment and operational support. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Ensure availability of MIS reports, SLA dashboards, and performance analytics.
Review and enhance reports such as debriefing reports, patient care records, and incident summaries.
Drive platform enhancements based on operational feedback and emerging requirements.
Plan system upgrades and roadmap for scalability and future integration.
Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.8–12 years of IT experience, including design and/or Large-scale IT operations management
Prior experience with government, highway, emergency response, transport, or public safety systems preferred.
Certifications in IT Architecture, ITIL, Cloud, or Cybersecurity – desirable. Reporting & Accountability Reports
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in enterprise application architecture and large-scale IT platforms.
Experience with real-time systems, GPS/VTS, IMS, MDM, and integration-heavy environments.
Knowledge of databases, APIs, cloud/on-prem infrastructure, and security practices.
Strong understanding of IT service management (ITIL), SLA governance, and incident management.
Excellent stakeholder coordination and vendor management skills.
Ability to handle mission-critical, 247 operational systems.
