Job Description – IT Desktop Support Engineer

Position: IT Desktop Support Engineer
Department: Information Technology (IT)
Location: A4 HOSPITALS & FERTILITY CENTRE PVT. LTD.,
Reports to: IT Manager / IT Head

Job Summary:

The IT Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT hardware/software within the organization. The role ensures smooth functioning of hospital/office IT systems with minimal downtime, enabling uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support

  • Provide first-level support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for end-users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows/Linux/Mac) and applications.

2. Network & System Support

  • Assist in basic LAN/WAN troubleshooting and connectivity issues.
  • Support email, internet, VPN, and hospital management systems.
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff/vendors when necessary.

3. Maintenance & Monitoring

  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and backups.
  • Ensure antivirus and security software are up to date.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and update records regularly.

4. User Assistance & Training

  • Provide orientation and basic IT training to new staff.
  • Assist users with password resets, account management, and software use.
  • Handle IT-related queries with professionalism and prompt response.

5. Compliance & Documentation

  • Adhere to hospital/organization IT policies and data security guidelines.
  • Document all support requests, resolutions, and incidents in the ticketing system.
  • Maintain proper handover notes for shift changes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma / B.Sc / B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in desktop/IT support (healthcare IT experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Mac OS, MS Office, and common applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi).
  • Familiarity with hospital/enterprise software (added advantage).
