We are looking for an engineer to design, develop and deploy calibration and test instrumentation systems for Apple’s world class products. This engineer will work closely with cross-functional groups (Design, ME, EE, SW, Ops, etc.) throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products.
Description
You will be responsible for the design specification, bring-up, validation and deployment of automated instrumentation to calibrate and test Apple’s products through NPI and mass production. Responsibilities will be tuned to match your technical background, but you may be expected to: - Architect instrumentation systems (including HW specification) and maintain those systems through production - Work with our mechanical engineering team to specify and validate the required mechanical fixtures & automation systems - Develop, debug, and optimize automation software - Implement advanced audio processing and ML algorithms to evaluate the acoustic performance of systems - Analyze large amounts of data generated from your instrument systems and embrace data-driven approaches to solving engineering challenges - Perform failure mode and root cause analysis and resolution, debugging from the system level down to the component level - Work closely with Apple Acoustics/N&V, system EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics teams. - Frequent interactions with contract manufacturers/vendors; developing SOPs, debug instructions, and documentation
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related Engineering discipline
- 3+ years professional experience in design, development, debugging, validation and working with electro-mechanical systems
- Working knowledge of consumer electronics modules like transducers: sensors (light/force/pressure/touch/motion) and/or acoustics (speaker/microphone)
- Basic understanding of hardware concepts and EE fundamentals (i.e. HW architecture, block diagrams and schematic design, debug interfaces, etc.)
- Programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C, along with scripting knowledge (Python, Lua)
- Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP)
- Experience analyzing and processing large data sets
- Domestic and international travel may be required (up to 10%)
Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in design, development, debugging, validation and working with electro-mechanical systems
- Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimisation
- Experience in high volume consumer electronics manufacturing
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to manage many priorities across multiple disciplines
