Instrument Systems Design Engineer

As an engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying calibration and test instrumentation systems for Apple's innovative products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will have the opportunity to impact products across Apple during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase. Your responsibilities will include architecting instrumentation systems, collaborating with mechanical engineering for fixture validation, developing automation software, implementing audio processing and ML algorithms, analyzing data, and performing root cause analysis. Key Responsibilities: - Design, bring-up, validate, and deploy automated instrumentation for calibration and testing - Architect instrumentation systems and maintain them through production - Collaborate with mechanical engineering to validate fixtures and automation systems - Develop, debug, and optimize automation software - Implement advanced audio processing and ML algorithms for acoustic performance evaluation - Analyze large data sets for data-driven engineering solutions - Conduct failure mode and root cause analysis, debugging at system and component levels - Collaborate with cross-functional teams at Apple and external vendors Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related Engineering discipline - 3+ years of professional experience in electro-mechanical systems - Knowledge of consumer electronics modules like sensors and acoustics - Basic understanding of hardware concepts and EE fundamentals - Programming skills in C/C++/Objective-C and scripting (Python, Lua) - Knowledge of digital signal processing and data analysis - Willingness for domestic and international travel (up to 10%) Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical systems - Understanding of test principles, test automation, and optimization - Experience in high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills If you are passionate about driving innovation and making a difference, join Apple and be a part of creating extraordinary products and experiences that impact millions worldwide.
