Job Description

Job Title: HSE Officer (Health, Safety & Environment)

Core Purpose

Ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant environment for visitors, staff, and contractors within the park premises. Promote a proactive safety culture and keep park operations aligned with local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, environmental statutes).

Key Responsibilities

Risk & Hazard Assessment

  • Conduct daily walk‑through inspections of trails, play areas, facilities, and equipment.
  • Identify physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards; log findings in a risk register.

Safety Policies & Procedures

  • Develop, update, and enforce park‑specific HSE policies (PPE usage, emergency evacuation, wildlife safety, sanitation).
  • Ensure signage (warning, directional, safety) is visible and compliant.

Training & Awareness

  • Deliver induction and refresher training to park staff, vendors, and volunteers (first‑aid, fire safety, wildlife interaction protocols).
  • Organize regular drills (fire, flood, storm, lost‑person scenarios).

Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, near‑misses, and health incidents; complete incident reports and root‑cause analysis.
  • Liaise with local emergency services, park rangers, and health authorities.

Environmental Stewardship

  • Monitor waste management, recycling, and hazardous material handling (e.g., pesticides, fuel).
  • Implement sustainability practices (energy/water conservation, biodiversity protection.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Keep abreast of local, state, and national HSE regulations.
  • Maintain logs of inspections, training records, PPE inventory, and audit outcomes.
  • Prepare periodic HSE performance reports for senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Certifications: NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA 30 hr (or equivalent).
  • 1‑2 years (entry) to 3‑5 years (senior) experience in HSE roles, preferably in public spaces, parks, or tourism facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of park‑specific hazards (wildlife, terrain, visitor flow).
  • Excellent communication, training, and report‑writing skills.
