About the role

The Warden is an integral position of the University. The responsibilities of this position primarily focus on the administrative, supervisory, and disciplinarian roles. The person should possess a high degree of integrity and an ability to maintain complete confidentiality.

The position is responsible for ensuring learners’ health, hygiene, safety, security, sanitation, cleanliness, handling emergencies, and maintaining discipline and dignity in the Hostel, which needs accessibility round the clock physically and on-call.


Responsibilities:

  • To maintain learners' databases related to their check-in, check-out, closure report, wellbeing, and other necessary information by following the suggested guidelines regularly.
  • To supervise the sports and cultural activities of learners in the hostel.
  • Getting the various registers maintained for the smooth functioning of the hostel.
  • Getting room keys checked, repaired, and replaced if required before the beginning of every academic year and also throughout the year.
  • Taking daily reporting to ensure regular cleanliness, maintenance, and housekeeping work are taking place in each residence hall.
  • Apart from the annual maintenance of the accommodation, for the smooth running of the facilities, should have the ability to plan the maintenance and housekeeping facilities in the accommodation and get the complaints rectified on a day-to-day basis.
  • To be responsible for assigned resident male and female learners, promptly take appropriate action, and understand learners’ concerns more closely.
  • To maintain the leave records of the learners and keep a watch on the in and out register.
  • To take regular rounds to ensure mental and physical wellbeing of the learners and should be able to coordinate with the medical staff to check on the status of the admitted learners. Arrange for first aid in case of any emergency.
  • Upon any disciplinary infraction, wardens are required to report to the incident site immediately, and then, after assessing the situation, they need to take necessary action accordingly. In case of minor disciplinary infractions, wardens should have the ability to resolve them by themselves.

Required Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
  • Should be a patient listener, approachable, and have empathy to understand the problem and help establish rapport with the learners.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines with varying degrees of pressure.
  • Team player with the ability to work, coordinate, cooperate, and collaborate.
  • Professional, organised, and courteous conduct, both internally and externally
  • Possess significant awareness of the handling of sensitive information while maintaining its confidentiality.
  • It should be free from encumbrance and open to more challenges.
  • Should have graduated from a recognised institution.
  • Should have at least 4 years of experience in Wardenship.
