Job Type: Full-time (Residential)

Job Overview

Meluha International School is seeking a responsible, disciplined, and student-centric Hostel Warden to manage the day-to-day residential life of students staying in the school hostel. The role involves ensuring student safety, discipline, well-being, and smooth hostel operations while maintaining continuous coordination with academic staff, residential team members, parents, and school leadership.

The ideal candidate will act as a mentor, supervisor, and guardian for students, handle student behaviour and conflicts effectively, oversee hostel facilities and food services, and ensure a safe, hygienic, and supportive residential environment. The Hostel Warden will report to the Reporting Manager / Residential Head and be directly accountable to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Discipline Management

● Ensure the safety, security, and overall well-being of all hostel students at all times.

● Maintain discipline, order, and adherence to hostel rules and school policies.

● Monitor student behaviour, address misconduct, and handle conflicts or disputes among

students in a calm and corrective manner.

● Act as a mentor and guide, supporting students’ emotional, social, and personal

development.

● Maintain daily student attendance, movement registers, and night roll calls.

Hostel Operations & Residential Management

● Oversee day-to-day hostel operations, including room allocation, cleanliness, and

hygiene.

● Conduct regular inspections of student rooms, washrooms, common areas, and hostel

premises.

● Identify and report damages, maintenance issues, or safety concerns related to hostel

infrastructure.

● Coordinate with the concerned departments (maintenance, housekeeping, civil works,

electrical, plumbing, etc.) to ensure timely repairs and resolution of issues.

● Ensure hostel assets, furniture, and equipment are used responsibly and maintained

properly.

Food & Dining Supervision

● Supervise the serving of meals, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner.

● Ensure food quality, hygiene, cleanliness, and timely distribution as per schedule.

● Monitor students during meal times and encourage discipline, nutrition, and proper

behaviour.

● Coordinate with kitchen staff, caterers, or mess supervisors regarding student feedback,

food concerns, or special requirements.

Parent Communication & Accountability

● Act as a key point of contact for parents regarding hostel-related matters.

● Address parent queries, concerns, or complaints related to student well-being,

discipline, health, or hostel facilities.

● Provide timely and accurate updates to parents when required, maintaining

professionalism and transparency.

● Escalate sensitive or critical matters to the Reporting Manager and Principal promptly.

Coordination & Reporting

● Coordinate closely with fellow wardens, residential staff, teachers, counsellors, and

school administration.

● Report daily, weekly, or incident-based updates to the Reporting Manager and Principal.

● Maintain proper documentation of incidents, disciplinary actions, medical cases, and

student concerns.

● Support school events, residential activities, outings, and emergencies as required.

Health, Safety & Emergency Management

● Ensure adherence to hostel safety protocols and emergency procedures.

● Respond promptly to medical issues, injuries, or emergencies, coordinating with the

school medical team when needed.

● Monitor student health, rest patterns, and general well-being.

● Ensure students follow safety norms during hostel hours, nighttime, and movements.

Qualifications and Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (preferred).

● Prior experience as a Hostel Warden, Residential Supervisor, Boarding School Staff, or

similar role is highly desirable.

● Strong leadership, discipline management, and conflict-resolution skills.

● Ability to handle students with patience, empathy, and firmness.

● Good communication skills in English and Telugu (Hindi is an added advantage).

● Physically and mentally fit to handle residential responsibilities.

● Willingness to stay on campus and work flexible hours as per hostel needs.

● High sense of responsibility, integrity, and professionalism.
