Horticultural Business Project Manager

Designation: Multipurpose Integrated Modern Horticultural Business Project Advisor

Location: Kolkata, West Bengal (with travel within the state/region as required)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Multipurpose Integrated Modern Horticultural Business Project Advisor to drive the planning, implementation, and successful operation of advanced horticultural projects. This role is crucial for integrating modern technology, sustainable practices, and sound business management to maximise yield, profitability, and market reach for our horticultural ventures in and around Kolkata.

The advisor will act as a key liaison between technical experts, project management, and business stakeholders, ensuring the project aligns with both commercial goals and best-practice agricultural standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Strategy & Management:
• Develop comprehensive, integrated business plans for modern horticultural projects (e.g., poly-house farming, hydroponics, high-value crop cultivation).
• Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, site selection, infrastructure development, and implementation.
• Monitor project milestones, budget, and resource allocation, reporting progress and mitigating risks to senior management.
• Technical & Horticultural Guidance:
• Advise on the selection of modern cultivation techniques, crop varieties, and post-harvest technology tailored to the Kolkata/Bengal agro-climatic zone.
• Implement and enforce integrated pest and disease management (IPM) protocols and sustainable practices.
• Provide expert consultation on soil/substrate health, nutrition, and irrigation systems (drip, mist, hydroponics).
• Business & Market Linkages:
• Develop strong market linkages, supply chain strategies, and value addition initiatives to ensure the commercial viability of the produce.
• Advise on product packaging, branding, and cold chain logistics for high-value horticultural crops.
• Conduct financial analysis, cost control measures, and performance benchmarking for the business units.
• Team Leadership & Training:
• Lead and mentor a team of field staff, agronomists, and project personnel.
• Conduct training sessions for farmers/growers on modern horticultural practices and business management skills.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Horticulture, Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive experience in managing commercial, high-tech, or integrated horticultural projects.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing profitable horticultural business plans, preferably in the Eastern Indian context.
• Proven expertise in modern protected cultivation (Greenhouse/Poly-house) or hydroponics/aeroponics.
• Skills:
• Exceptional Project Management and organisational skills.
• Strong Commercial Acumen and financial analysis capability (budgeting, ROI, cost analysis).
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to liaise with technical teams, management, and farmers.
• In-depth technical knowledge of crop science, pest management, and post-harvest technology.
• Proficiency in local language (Bengali) is highly desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Contractual / Temporary
Contract length: 11 months

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
