Role Overview

What You’ll Do

• Architect and implement a scalable, modular, artist-friendly production pipeline for VFX and animation — ground-up.
• Define the studio’s technical roadmap across pipeline, R&D tools, automation systems, and internal product development.
• Lead the strategy and execution of productisation of internal tools, including asset management, workflow automation, review platforms, and more.
• Work closely with creative, production, and leadership teams to identify high-impact technical solutions.
• Build, mentor, and manage a small cross-functional tech team (pipeline developers, TDs, engineers).
• Own standards for pipeline coding, documentation, deployment, and user support.
• Explore and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., real-time workflows, machine learning, USD, cloud rendering).
• Ensure the studio’s technology stack supports both scalability and agility across multiple projects and IPs.
  

You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in VFX, animation, or real-time production environments, with at least 3–5 years in a technical leadership role.
• Deep expertise in building and scaling pipelines, including DCC integrations (Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Blender, etc.).
• Strong programming background in Python (PyQt/PySide) and familiarity with C++ or relevant APIs.
• Experience architecting end-to-end production toolchains — from asset ingestion to final delivery.
• Understanding of modern asset and data management practices, version control, and workflow orchestration.
• Track record of developing internal tools or platforms that were adopted across teams or studios.
• Passion for creating intuitive tools that empower artists — not complicate their work.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to balance short-term production needs with long-term product vision.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience building cloud-based infrastructure or cross-location collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with USD, real-time engines (Unreal, Unity), or procedural toolkits.
• Exposure to product management, UX for internal tools, or commercialising in-house tech.
