Role Overview

We are looking for a Founding Head of Engineering to take complete ownership of NYX’s technology stack and engineering direction. This is a high-impact, equity-first role for a builder who wants to create something meaningful from scratch, move fast, write great code, and architect scalable AI-driven systems.

You will work closely with the founders, product, and sales leadership to translate vision into execution. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong hands-on coding ability, deep logical thinking, and ambition to build and lead.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Architecture Ownership

Own end-to-end architecture of NYX’s platform (backend, frontend, infra, AI pipelines).

Design scalable, secure, and high-performance systems for enterprise use.

Make key technology decisions across stack, tooling, infra, and deployment.

Ensure engineering best practices around performance, reliability, and security.

Hands-On Development

Write high-quality production code across backend and frontend systems.

Build APIs, data pipelines, AI integrations, and automation workflows.

Rapidly prototype, ship, and iterate features based on real customer feedback.

Leverage modern frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and AI-native tooling.

AI-Native & Modern Development

Work closely with AI/ML workflows including model orchestration, inference pipelines, and data systems.

Adopt and integrate new-age developer tools, copilots, automation frameworks, and infra optimisations.

Ensure fast development velocity without compromising system quality.

Ensure engineering productivity remains extremely high.

Core Technology Stack (Must-Have)

Frontend: React.js, Next.js

Backend: Node.js, Python

Databases: SQL-based systems (PostgreSQL / MySQL preferred)

APIs & Systems: RESTful APIs, async systems, scalable backend services

Infrastructure (Preferred): Cloud-native architecture, modern DevOps workflows

(Experience with AI/ML pipelines, LLM integrations, and data-intensive systems is a strong plus.)

Team & Culture Building

Hire, mentor, and scale a high-performance engineering team over time.

Set coding standards, development processes, and engineering culture.

Foster a culture of ownership, speed, learning, and accountability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Leadership teams.

Translate business and customer requirements into technical execution.

Support enterprise client requirements, integrations, and scalability needs.

Experience & Qualifications

6–10 years of total engineering experience (not more than 10 years).

Strong hands-on experience as a full-stack engineer.

Proven experience building and scaling products from scratch.

Excellent understanding of system design, data structures, APIs, and backend logic.

Comfortable working in fast-moving startup environments.

Education

Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate technical degree (B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/MS or equivalent).

Degree from top-tier engineering institutions preferred:

 IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS, or reputed international universities.
