Head Mechanic

The Head Mechanic oversees the maintenance and repair operations within a workshop or garage, ensuring that vehicles and machinery are functioning efficiently and safely. This role involves coordinating a team of mechanics, managing inventory of parts and tools, and liaising with customers and suppliers to meet service expectations. With a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, the Head Mechanic ensures that all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines. Head Mechanic Job Duties

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and mechanical equipment within the organization, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
• Manage the inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring that essential items are always in stock while optimizing storage and reducing waste.
• Train and mentor junior mechanics and technicians, providing guidance on complex repairs and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts for parts, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.
• Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and software.
• Design and fabricate custom parts or modifications to meet specific operational needs or to improve efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve any complaints or issues related to mechanical failures or subpar repair work, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the organizations reputation.
