Role Overview

General Manager Solar

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end EPC execution of solar projects across multiple sites.
  • Manage project phases from inception to commissioning, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Conduct site evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee civil, structural, and electrical construction activities for solar PV plants.

2. Team Management & Deployment

  • Build and lead skilled project teams, including supervisors, technicians, and labor forces.
  • Ensure effective deployment and management of manpower in remote and challenging locations.
  • Drive strong site management practices with a focus on safety, compliance, and productivity.

3. Costing, Proposals & Tendering

  • Prepare detailed project costing and competitive proposals in line with market trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on pricing strategy and bid preparation.
  • Lead technical documentation and submissions for public and private tenders.

4. Procurement & Resource Management

  • Coordinate with the Procurement team for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor project resources, track progress, and highlight risks with mitigation strategies.

5. Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Report project progress, risks, and opportunities to the Vice President Electrical SBU.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by delivering projects that meet technical, financial, and operational expectations.

6. Market & Industry Awareness

  • Stay updated on global developments in the solar PV sector, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Recommend innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness and operational efficiency.

Key Requirements

  • Total Experience:

    1518 years, including

    58 years in Solar projects at Deputy General Manager (DGM) level or equivalent senior role

    .
  • Proven track record of executing

    minimum 50 MW cumulative capacity of solar plants

    across multiple projects within the last 5 years.
  • Strong ability to

    deploy and manage teams in remote project locations

    .
  • Expertise in

    solar project costing, budgeting, and proposal preparation

    .
  • Hands-on experience in

    tendering for public and private projects

    .
  • Excellent leadership, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Engineering degree in

    Electrical / Mechanical / Renewable Energy

    ; MBA is an added advantage.
