Job Description General Manager (GM) Human Resources Industry: Automotive Dealership Position Title: General Manager – HR Location: Salem - Tamilnadu Reports To: Dealer Principal / Managing Director Role Overview: The General Manager – HR is responsible for overseeing the entire human resources function within the dealership, including recruitment, employee relations, training, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. The GM – HR plays a strategic role in aligning people practices with business goals to support dealership growth, enhance employee engagement, and maintain a high-performance work culture. Key Responsibilities: 1. HR Strategy & Policy Development: • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall dealership objectives. • Design and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures. • Act as a strategic advisor to the leadership team on people and culture matters. 2. Recruitment & Talent Management: • Oversee end-to-end recruitment for all departments – Sales, Service, Accounts, Admin, etc. • Establish a talent pipeline through partnerships with institutions and recruitment agencies. • Conduct workforce planning and implement succession planning initiatives. 3. Training & Development: • Identify skill gaps and design learning and development programs for employees at all levels. • • Coordinate with OEMs and external trainers for technical and soft skills training. • • Promote continuous learning through cross-functional training and workshops. 4. Performance Management: • • Implement and monitor performance appraisal systems (e.g., KPIs, OKRs). • • Support departmental heads in goal-setting, appraisals, and feedback sessions. • • Link performance outcomes with incentive structures to drive results. 5. Employee Engagement & Culture Building: • • Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement programs and events. • • Promote open communication and resolve workplace conflicts amicably. • • Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and develop action plans for improvement. 6. HR Operations & Compliance: • • Oversee payroll processing, attendance, leave management, and statutory compliances (PF, ESI, Gratuity, etc.). • • Ensure compliance with labor laws, dealership policies, and OEM HR guidelines. • • Manage employee records, HR MIS, and HR audits. 7. Administration & General Support: • • Supervise general administration activities including housekeeping, facilities, and security. • • Ensure smooth coordination between admin and operations departments for support services. Required Qualifications & Skills: Education: • • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources / Business Administration / Psychology. • • MBA/PGDM in HR (preferred). Experience: • • 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the automotive, retail, or manufacturing sector. • • Experience in managing large teams and multiple functions within HR. Key Skills: • • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills • • Excellent understanding of HR best practices and labor laws • • Conflict resolution and people management skills • Analytical and strategic thinking • • Proficiency in HRMS/HRIS, MS Office, and payroll systems Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): • • Recruitment turnaround time (TAT) • • Employee retention rate • • Training hours per employee • • Employee engagement score • • Compliance and audit ratings • • Performance review cycle completion Work Environment: • • Based at the dealership head office, with frequent visits to branch offices and service centers. • • Standard office hours with flexibility to attend events or employee-related issues beyond hours.
