About The Opportunity
Healthcare — Tertiary care hospital and clinical services focused on delivering comprehensive gastroenterology and hepatology care across Assam. We seek a DM/DrNB-qualified Consultant Gastroenterologist to join an on-site clinical team providing high-quality inpatient, outpatient and advanced endoscopy services for a growing regional patient population.
Position:
Consultant Gastroenterologist (DM/DrNB) — On-site, Assam, IndiaRole & Responsibilities
- Provide expert outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology care, including diagnosis, treatment planning and continuity of care for complex GI and hepatology patients.
- Perform and supervise diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (upper/lower endoscopy) and carry out or lead advanced procedures such as ERCP and EUS where credentialed.
- Lead multidisciplinary case management with surgery, radiology, pathology and critical care teams for emergencies (GI bleed, acute pancreatitis, cholangitis) and elective complex cases.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, and uphold clinical governance, patient-safety and quality standards.
- Train and mentor junior doctors, residents and nursing staff; contribute to protocol development, audits and guideline implementation for the GI unit.
- Support service development initiatives — outpatient expansion, endoscopy suite optimisation and community outreach for preventative GI care.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- DM or DrNB in Gastroenterology (required) with current registration with the Medical Council/State Medical Council in India.
- Proven competence in diagnostic endoscopy; documented experience or training in therapeutic endoscopy (ERCP/EUS preferred).
- Clinical experience managing hepatology, IBD, GI bleed and pancreatobiliary disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Strong clinical judgement, procedural skills, and ability to work autonomously in an on-site clinical setting.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams; commitment to teaching and audits.
Preferred
- 2+ years post-DM/DrNB consultant experience or fellowship in advanced endoscopy; published clinical research or case series.
- Experience with hospital accreditation processes, quality improvement projects and EMR systems.
