About The Opportunity
Join a growing clinical team delivering high-quality gastroenterology care to a regional patient population. This on-site consultant role focuses on delivering evidence-based diagnosis and treatment across the spectrum of GI and hepatobiliary disorders, while supporting endoscopy services and collaborating with surgery, radiology, and critical care teams.Role & Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care for acute and chronic gastroenterology and hepatology patients, making timely, evidence-based treatment decisions.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and EUS as indicated, ensuring procedural safety and quality metrics.
- Manage gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreato-biliary disorders, IBD flares, and liver disease workups; coordinate care with ICU and surgical teams when needed.
- Document clinical encounters, procedure notes, and discharge plans clearly; participate in morbidity & mortality reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead or participate in endoscopy unit governance: infection control, sedation protocols, equipment maintenance and procedural audits.
- Mentor junior doctors, coordinate multidisciplinary rounds, and contribute to patient education and community outreach on GI health.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with DM Gastroenterology or DrNB Gastroenterology (or equivalent)
- Valid medical registration to practice in India (state/NMC registration)
- Proven competence in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy)
- Hands-on experience with ERCP and/or EUS or strong willingness to perform these procedures
- Ability to manage acute GI emergencies including GI bleed and acute pancreatitis
- Familiarity with endoscopy unit protocols, sedation standards and clinical documentation
Preferred
- Experience in advanced endoscopic interventions (EUS-guided drainage, advanced ERCP)
- Experience in hepatology clinics or liver disease management
- Track record of clinical research, teaching or quality improvement in gastroenterology
