Job Description

Position:

Role Overview:

The Faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal education, guiding students in academic and research activities, and contributing to institutional development through curriculum enhancement, seminars, moot courts, and legal awareness programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching & Learning

    • Conduct lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions as per the academic calendar.
    • Teach core and elective subjects such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, IPC, CPC, CrPC, Family Law, Property Law, Labour Law, etc.
    • Ensure outcome-based education (OBE) and adopt student-centric teaching pedagogy.
    • Prepare lesson plans, case study discussions, and moot court exercises.
  2. Academic & Administrative Duties

    • Evaluate assignments, internal assessments, viva voce, and end-semester examinations.
    • Maintain academic records, attendance, and student performance reports.
    • Participate in academic committees, BOS meetings, and syllabus reviews.
  3. Research & Publications

    • Guide students in research papers, internships, legal drafting, and court visits.
    • Publish research articles in UGC-CARE / Scopus journals.
    • Organize and participate in conferences, seminars, FDPs, and workshops.
  4. Student Mentorship & Support

    • Counsel students for internships in courts, law firms, legal chambers, NGOs, and corporate legal departments.
    • Support students participating in moot courts, legal aid clinics, ADR competitions, debates, and national law events.
  5. Industry & Professional Engagement

    • Coordinate with Bar Council, legal institutions, High Court/Trial Courts, law firms, and legal aid bodies.
    • Facilitate guest lectures by judges, advocates, law officers, and legal scholars.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Qualification:

    LL.M (Mandatory), Ph.D. in Law (Preferred, as per UGC norms).
  • Additional Eligibility:

    NET/SET/SLET qualification required as per UGC Guidelines.
  • Experience:

    • Assistant Professor: Minimum 1–3 years (Freshers with strong academic records may be considered)
    • Associate Professor: 5–10 years with research credentials
    • Professor: 10+ years with proven academic leadership

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong command over legal subjects and case law interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and courtroom procedural knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems & ICT-enabled teaching.
  • Ability to develop legal clinics, moot court societies, and legal research cells.

Other Requirements:

  • Participation in institutional events, legal literacy programs, visits to Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals, Bar Council, NHRC, Legal Aid Commissions, etc.
  • Commitment to academic integrity and continuous learning.
