Position Summary

Department of English, GLA University, Mathura is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Assistant Professor in English, with specialization in English Literature, Linguistics, or English Language Teaching

(ELT) The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, engaging in scholarly research, and contributing to departmental and institutional development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and conduct seminars for undergraduate and/or graduate programs in the relevant specialization.
• Develop course outlines, instructional materials, and assessment tools in alignment with departmental standards.
• Engage in scholarly research leading to publications in reputable journals and participation in academic conferences.
• Supervise student research projects, theses, and academic activities.
• Participate in curriculum review, program development, and quality assurance processes.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
• Serve on departmental and institutional committees as required.
• Adhere to institutional policies and contribute to the academic mission of the university.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in English Literature, Linguistics, ELT, or a closely related

discipline from an accredited institution.

• Demonstrated teaching ability and subject-matter expertise.
• Evidence of research capability, including publications or ongoing research Projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior university-level teaching experience.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications or evidence of a strong research agenda.
• Experience with modern pedagogical practices, including outcome education (OBE).
• Proficiency in using digital learning platforms and instructional technologies.
• Participation in academic conferences, workshops, or externally funded research projects.
