Job Description

Job Summary The client is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with 8–10 years of experience in the design of electrical control systems, especially starter panels, with a minimum of 3 years leading project teams. Strong technical design capability, understanding of defence standards, and experience with PLC systems, VFDs, electrical switchgear, and component selection are critical. The ideal candidate should have panel design expertise, exposure to MIL standards, and be proficient in preparing technical documentation and managing product compliance. Prior defence/marine sector experience is a significant advantage. Roles & Responsibilities Design electrical and electronic control systems. Understand technical requirements and suggest suitable solutions. Design different types of control panels and operating consoles. Prepare layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings. Create test procedures, technical manuals, and quality plans. Select parts, make a bill of materials, and estimate costs. Lead a team to complete engineering tasks – from design to testing. Perform design checks like FMEA and ensure standards are met. Plan resources and tools for engineering tasks. Coordinate with the project team for approvals and inspections. Prepare final technical documents for the project. Ensure all designs follow defense or industry standards. Visit customer sites for studies and technical discussions. Help solve issues in existing products. Support sales with technical inputs and cost estimates. Coordinate with other departments to complete work smoothly. Take part in new product research and development. Technical Competency Practical experience in designing electrical and electronic starter and control systems. Good knowledge of PLCs, controllers, switchgear, VFDs, starters, and other electrical components. Familiar with industry standards like IS, IEC, BIS, NES, Def Stan, and UL. Experience in process control is a plus. Ability to understand technical specs and suggest the best solutions. Can prepare design drawings like GA, fabrication, layout, wiring, and installation diagrams. Skilled in writing test procedures, technical manuals, and quality plans. Experience with product testing for environmental and EMI/EMC compliance (MIL standards). Can read RFPs and customer requirements and provide suitable design solutions. Strong analytical and communication skills, able to lead projects efficiently. Experience with defence-related projects is an added advantage. Show more Show less
