Engineer (R&D - Platform , Vehicle Integration & Transmission Design)

Role & responsibilities

• Product Design Tractors:

  Execute assigned projects with First Time Right (FTR) design quality and ensure timely completion.

• Perform 3D modeling and detailing of tractor aggregates and systems using CAD software Solid edge.
  
• Create and release engineering drawings, BOM, and design documents as per standards.
  

• Cost Saving Initiatives:

  Drive cost optimization and reduction projects through design improvements and VAVE activities.

• Vehicle Integration :

  Ensure proper fitment, packaging, and integration of new assemblies into the tractor platform.
• Conduct interface checks and resolve assembly/fitment issues through design modification

• Validation & Testing Coordination :

  Collaborate with testing teams to conduct design validation, field trials, and performance verification.
• Analyze test results and incorporate required design improvements..

• Cross-Functional Coordination :

  Coordinate with production, quality, and purchase teams during proto and pilot build stages.
• Support supplier development teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective sourcing.

• Transmission System Design :

  Design and develop transmission components such as gears, shafts, housings, selectors, synchronizers, PTO units, and differential assemblies.
• Perform tolerance stack-up, interference checks, and fitment analysis for transmission and driveline systems.

• Calculate gear parameters, bearing selection, shaft sizing, and strength analysis as per performance requirements.
  
• Ensure optimal gear ratio selection for tractor applications.

• Ensure smooth integration of the transmission with engine, clutch, rear axle, and chassis.
  
• Resolve assembly, alignment, and packaging issues during proto and pilot builds.

• Create DFMEA, DVP&R, ECN/EN, and technical reports for transmission systems.
  
• Maintain design standards and ensure compliance with tractor safety regulations.

Preferred candidate profile

• Qualification:

  Diploma / B.E. / B. Tech (Agricultural /Mechanical / Automobile).

• Experience:

  2 to 6 years in tractor or automotive R&D (platform, transmission, driveline and Vehicle integration Design).
• Hands-on experience in

  gearbox, PTO, differential & driveline system design

  .
• Proficiency in

  Solid Edge

  , GD&T, modeling, detailing, and engineering calculations.
• Strong knowledge of casting, machining, Sheet Metal , Plastic Commodity Design.
  
• Understanding of tractor aggregateschassis, axle, transmission, vehicle systems.
  
• Ability to support proto builds, field trials, and validation activities.
  
• Strong analytical skills for field failure investigation and RCA.
  
• Innovative, problem-solving mindset with ownership and accountability.
