Job Purpose
The Quality Analyst (Civil) is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the quality of materials, workmanship, and construction processes on civil engineering projects. This role ensures that all project activities adhere to defined quality standards and regulatory requirements. The Quality Analyst will perform inspections, coordinate testing, and analyze data to maintain the highest quality in construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control:
Monitor and inspect civil engineering works to ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Develop and implement quality control plans for construction activities, ensuring adherence to established quality standards and client specifications.
Ensure the materials used in construction meet the necessary quality standards, specifications, and regulatory guidelines.
Inspection & Testing:
Conduct on-site inspections to ensure that the construction activities meet the design and quality requirements.
Coordinate and perform various field and laboratory tests (e.g., concrete slump tests, soil tests, material sampling).
Ensure that all inspections and tests are documented and that results are accurately reported.
Identify and investigate non-conformities, suggesting corrective actions to rectify quality issues.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of quality inspections, testing results, and compliance reports.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing inspections, test results, and progress on quality assurance issues.
Document any non-conformities, corrective actions taken, and any recommendations for improvement.
Collaboration with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the construction process.
Participate in site meetings to provide feedback on quality-related matters, such as potential risks or areas for improvement.
Provide technical support and advice on quality-related concerns during the construction phase.
Audit & Compliance:
Assist in internal and external audits to verify compliance with quality standards and regulations.
Ensure the proper handling of materials and the appropriate construction techniques to maintain quality and safety.
Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address identified quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
Analyze project performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for enhancing quality processes.
Provide recommendations for process improvements based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
Contribute to the development of updated quality standards and procedures based on the evolving needs of the project and industry standards.
Training & Development:
Provide training to site personnel on quality control procedures, best practices, and new regulations.
Stay updated with the latest industry standards, materials, and quality techniques, and share this knowledge with the team.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Ensure that all quality control activities are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Monitor and report on the environmental impact of construction activities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Certifications: Certifications in Quality Assurance or Quality Control (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, ACI, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within the civil engineering or construction industry.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and testing methods.
Familiarity with relevant construction codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ISO).
Proficient in using quality control tools and software (e.g., MS Excel, AutoCAD, or quality management systems).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and address non-conformities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Additional certifications in quality control, auditing, or safety management.
Knowledge of project management software or construction management tools.
Experience in managing quality assurance for large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, utilities).
Work Conditions
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Saturday. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines or address quality issues on-site.
Travel: Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
Site Conditions: May involve working in outdoor or construction site environments, subject to weather conditions.
Office Environment: Primarily office-based with site visits as necessary.
