Design high-voltage accessories for a sustainable future Are you interested in mechanical design and ready to contribute to the green energy transition? At NKT, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Accessories Engineering team in Chennai . In this role, you will design and develop high-voltage cable accessories that are essential to global energy infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with international teams, contribute to product innovation, and help standardize design processes that support our global operations. Create innovative designs for high-voltage systems As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing reliable and cost-efficient cable accessories used in high-voltage systems. You will ensure high-quality outputs, collaborate across departments, and support continuous product improvement through R&D and testing. Your responsibility will be to: Design and develop high-voltage cable accessories using SolidWorks Establish and maintain standard design practices and documentation Perform quality checks on mechanical design outputs Collaborate with project, procurement, and installation teams Support technical documentation and testing activities You will report to the Manager of Accessories Engineering and work closely with teams in Karlskrona, Sweden. The position is based in Chennai, with 2–3 weeks of initial training in Sweden. Detail-oriented designer with a collaborative mindset We are looking for a motivated, structured, and forward-thinking individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. You are results-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects, and delivering high-quality work. Your ability to communicate openly and contribute to team makes you a valuable asset. You also have: A BTech/MTech in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for product development Proficiency in SolidWorks and Windchill PLM Extensive understanding of manufacturing processes and GD&T Experience working with suppliers and offshore teams Familiarity with SAP and experience in high-voltage or offshore industries Designing the future of energy systems NKT is committed to developing a diverse organization and culture where people of diverse backgrounds can grow and are inspired to do their best.
