Engine Reliability & Testing Engineer

Job Title: Engine Reliability & Testing Engineer Department: Powertrain/Testing & Validation Experience Level: 2–6 Years Employment Type: Full-time Role Overview:We are looking for a skilled and driven Engine Reliability & Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in IC engine performance and durability testing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for root cause analysis, testing execution, and implementation of countermeasures to ensure high engine reliability and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:Conduct performance, durability, strength, friction and other reliability tests on internal combustion (IC) engines. Perform root cause analysis to resolve reliability and quality issues. Identify, validate, and document corrective and preventive actions. Collect, analyze, and compile test data; prepare reports and make presentations. Collaborate on advanced projects to enhance engine quality and durability. Objectively evaluate countermeasure effectiveness and provide summaries of findings. Suggest and implement improvements in test methods and procedures. Work closely with cross-functional teams including vehicle testing, production, supply chain, and quality assurance. Technical Competencies:Proven experience in engine reliability and validation testing. Sound understanding of engine systems, sub-systems, and parts. Familiarity with engine-dyno bench setups and emission measurement systems. Experience with Engine Management Systems (EMS) including ECUs, sensors, and actuators. Proficiency in data analysis tools like Concerto, INCA, MDA, MATLAB, Excel Macros, etc. Knowledge of QC tools – 5-Why Analysis, DFMEA, FTA, etc. Awareness of emerging powertrain technologies and high-tech components: Turbocharger, VVT, EGR, Catalyst, OBD, AMT, CVT, AT, ISS, ISG. Understanding of BS6 / CAFE emission norms, test cycles (MIDC / WLTP). Familiarity with Model Development Process, validation timelines, and issue tracking/resolution. Educational Qualifications:B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, or Mechatronics Engineering (Full-time). Minimum 60% marks throughout education.
