Job Description

Job Summary DRONESSTER is seeking a highly skilled and creative Enclosure Designer to join our product development team. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of enclosures for our advanced drone systems and related hardware. You will work closely with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to create innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing enclosures that protect internal components, ensure optimal performance, and meet stringent environmental and structural requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, CAD software, and an understanding of various manufacturing processes, with a passion for bringing robust and elegant drone hardware to life. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical enclosures for drone components, flight systems, ground control units, and other related hardware. Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for manufacturing, assembly, and documentation. Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper component fit, thermal management, connector access, and cable routing within the enclosure. Work with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for various production processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication). Conduct structural analysis (e.g., FEA) to ensure the enclosure's integrity under various operational conditions (vibration, impact, environmental stress). Select appropriate materials for enclosures based on strength, weight, thermal properties, environmental resistance, and cost. Develop and implement sealing solutions for environmental protection (e.g., IP ratings for dust and water ingress). Manage and maintain design files, BOMs, and revision control for mechanical components. Participate in design reviews, providing expert input on mechanical design challenges and solutions. Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new enclosure designs, identifying and resolving mechanical issues. Stay updated with the latest mechanical design tools, materials, and manufacturing techniques. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field. Proven work experience 2+ years as an Enclosure Designer or Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in consumer electronics, robotics, aerospace, or drone industries. Expert proficiency with at least one leading 3D CAD software package (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, CATIA, PTC Creo). Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes. Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles. Knowledge of various fastening methods, sealing techniques, and environmental protection standards (e.g., IP ratings). Ability to perform basic structural analysis and thermal considerations for enclosure design. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing enclosures for drone systems, including considerations for aerodynamics, weight optimization, and payload integration. Familiarity with thermal simulation software. Experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing). Knowledge of design for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in mechanical enclosures. Experience with vibration isolation and shock absorption techniques. Understanding of industrial design principles and user experience (UX) in product design. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for mechanical design files. Salary Range: 18T to 30T/ month What We Offer Opportunity to work with cutting-edge robotics technology and a passionate team. A collaborative and innovative work environment. Competitive salary and benefits package. Opportunities for professional growth and development. Application Process Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, cover letter, and a link to their online portfolio (or attached PDF portfolio) to contact@dronesster.com. Please include "Graphic Designer & Social Media Manager Application - [Your Name]" in the subject line. DRONESSTER is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
