The VGL, situated in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is an integrated steel plant having its own Stainless-Steel Plant, Rolling Mill, Sponge Iron Unit, Ferro Alloy unit and Captive Power Plant (Thermal, Wind and Solar). Job Objective- We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to oversee and manage all electrical systems, power distribution, and automation within the Ferro Alloys division of our integrated steel plant. The ideal candidate will ensure uninterrupted plant operations, implement preventive maintenance schedules, and troubleshoot electrical issues effectively. Responsibilities - Supervise installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems in the ferro alloys plant (Submerged Arc Furnaces – SAF, crushing units, conveyors, etc.) Ensure smooth operation of power distribution systems (HT/LT panels, transformers, switchgears, etc.) Implement preventive and breakdown maintenance programs. Troubleshoot faults in electrical equipment and coordinate corrective actions to minimize downtime. Work with automation systems like PLC, SCADA, and drive systems (VFD, soft starters). Ensure energy efficiency and support energy audits and compliance. Liaise with external agencies for statutory inspections and approvals (e.g., Electrical Inspectorate). Maintain records of equipment, spares inventory, and maintenance logs. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and promote safety practices among the team. Coordinate with mechanical and production departments for synchronized operations. Preferred Skills & Knowledge - Experience in handling Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF) and high-power transformers. Strong understanding of HT/LT systems, PLC/SCADA-based automation. Familiarity with DG sets, UPS systems, and power factor correction systems. Knowledge of electrical safety codes and statutory regulations. Ability to work in shifts and under high-temperature industrial conditions.
