Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Atlas Transformers India Limited (Por,Gidc) Experience Preferred : 2 to 3 years in Transformers Industry Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in power and distribution transformer design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing innovative and cost-effective transformer designs, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and customer specifications. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance processes. Key Responsibilities: Transformer Design: Design oil-filled and dry-type transformers (e.g., power, distribution, furnace, autotransformers, reactors) up to [XX] kV / [XX] MVA. Perform electrical calculations including core sizing, impedance, losses, temperature rise, and short-circuit withstand capability. Select appropriate materials (e.g., core steel, conductor, insulation) based on thermal, dielectric, and magnetic requirements. Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, GA drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ELCAD, SolidWorks). Generate bills of materials (BOM), winding data sheets, insulation diagrams, and technical specifications. Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs meet international and local standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, and customer-specific requirements. Support type testing and routine testing documentation for certification and factory acceptance tests (FAT). Cross-functional Coordination: Work with mechanical, quality, and production teams to resolve design issues during prototyping and manufacturing. Assist sales and marketing teams by providing technical support and cost estimation during proposal development. Continuous Improvement: Recommend design optimizations to improve product reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Participate in R&D activities related to advanced transformer technology, insulation systems, and smart transformers. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred). 3–7 years of experience in transformer design or related electrical equipment. Proficient in transformer design software (e.g., Maxwell, ANSYS, MagNet, ETAP) and engineering tools. Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, insulation coordination, and thermal analysis.
