Dispatch Manager

Job Title: Dispatch Manager – Sponge Iron Plant Location: [Tilda] Department: Logistics & Dispatch Reports To: Plant Head / Head – Logistics & Supply Chain Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Dispatch Manager to oversee the dispatch operations at our Plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, and cost-effective transportation of sponge iron and by-products to customers, warehouses, or further processing units. This role requires strong coordination with production, quality, sales, and transport teams to ensure smooth outbound logistics. Key Responsibilities: Plan and manage dispatch schedules in line with daily and monthly production targets. Coordinate with the production and quality departments to ensure material readiness and compliance before dispatch. Supervise and manage truck loading, weighing, documentation, and gate pass issuance. Liaise with transport contractors for timely availability of vehicles (trailers/trucks). Ensure adherence to all safety and compliance requirements during dispatch operations. Maintain accurate records of dispatches, vehicle movement, weighbridge data, and invoices. Minimize truck turnaround time and loading delays to optimize logistics performance. Monitor and control logistics costs, including freight and handling charges. Coordinate with sales and customer service teams for prioritizing dispatches and fulfilling customer orders. Ensure all dispatch documents such as invoices, e-way bills, delivery challans, and test certificates are correctly prepared and dispatched. Maintain regular reports on dispatch volumes, vehicle utilization, and transporter performance. Address and resolve issues related to vehicle breakdowns, transit delays, or customer complaints. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations like GST, e-way bill requirements, and environmental/safety norms. Implement best practices in logistics and dispatch to improve operational efficiency. Requirements: Graduate in any discipline; a degree/diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering is preferred. Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in dispatch/logistics operations in a sponge iron plant or similar heavy industry. Good understanding of sponge iron logistics, including handling, transport norms, and customer requirements. Proficiency in MS Office, SAP (MM/SD Module), Tally, and dispatch/tracking software. Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with weighbridge operations, statutory documentation, and safety practices. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of handling bulk material logistics. Experience in dealing with transport contractors and fleet operations. Familiarity with ERP systems and transport compliance platforms (e.g., FAS Tag, e-Way Bill generation).
