Director, Software Engineering

Job Description

We seek an experienced Software Director to lead the development of our next-gen Home Gateway products. You will oversee architecture, innovation, and execution of embedded systems, and collaborate on cloud integrations and mobile apps for seamless, secure home networking. This is an onsite role in Chennai. Responsibilities Define and drive the overall software architecture for home gateway products, including firmware, middleware, and cloud connectivity Lead and mentor team of software engineers, architects, QA, and DevOps professionals Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on quality, agility, and innovation. Establish best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, performance tuning, and field reliability. Requirements 15+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 8 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of shipping home networking or consumer electronics products at scale. Strong understanding of networking stacks (Ethernet, VLAN, Wi-Fi, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, DHCP, DNS, VPN) and security (TLS, WPA3). Experience with prplOS/prplMesh, RDK-B, and OpenWrt 802.11s based embedded Linux solution Experience working with chipset vendors (Qualcomm, Broadcom, MediaTek, RealTek, Marvell, SiLabs, Infineon, Qorvo, Nordic) Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills Agile/Scrum and DevOps experience in a scaled engineering environment Company Statement/Values At NETGEAR, we are on a mission to unleash the full potential of connectivity with intelligent solutions that delight and protect.
